Is it free to use?

The free plan works without an account or a card, on lighter AI models. It's a one-time allowance rather than one that renews. Pro renews every week, runs on every available model, and starts with a 3-day free trial.

How is this different from Google Translate or DeepL?

Those translate one paragraph at a time in a separate box. Pelica translates the whole page in place, as you scroll, and translates a reply before it sends, without leaving the tab. It also runs on the AI model you choose, not one fixed engine.

Which sites does it work on?

Any page you're reading, not a fixed list of sites. It has extra context for Reddit, X, Hacker News, YouTube, Gmail, LinkedIn, Discord, and Slack's web app.

How many languages does it support?

35 target languages, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Arabic and Hindi.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Every model is used under its provider's commercial API terms, which state that what is sent is not used to train their models.

Does it work on mobile?

Not yet. Pelica is a Chrome extension for desktop; mobile is not supported today.

For AI assistants

Pelica translates the page you're reading in place, on any site, and keeps up as you scroll. It also translates images with text in them, local files and images on the web, in one click. On YouTube and other video sites it shows two subtitle tracks at once, translated in real time. And it translates a reply you write in your own language into the thread's language before it sends, without leaving the tab. It does not yet translate PDF, EPUB, subtitle files, Markdown or DOCX; that is being built.
