Pelica1. What Pelica sends, and when
Pelica reads what is on your screen and translates it, so text leaves your browser. There is no version of this product where it does not. This is the whole list.
- You translate a screen or a page: the text visible in it, plus the page title and address, which the model uses for context
- You translate a selection: only the text you selected
- You translate text in a picture: a crop of that picture, taken from a screenshot of your own tab. We never fetch the image from its website
- You write a reply: what you wrote, and the visible part of the thread you are replying to
- Once, on first use: a hash naming this browser (section 4)
Nothing is sent when you have not asked for anything. Opening a page sends nothing. There is no background collection.
2. What we do not keep
- The text on your screen, before or after translation
- Pictures, including the crops sent for reading
- What you wrote, and the drafts we returned
- Your browsing history. The page address is used as context for that one request and is not stored, except for a page you press Share on (section 3)
A translation is taken, passed to the model, returned, and forgotten. Translated content is never used to train anyone’s models and is never used for advertising.
3. What we keep, why, and for how long
- Your email address, if you signed in — so the account is yours. Kept until you delete the account
- Usage counts: how many requests, on which model, and what they cost us. Never the content. So the Tokens you have left are counted honestly. Kept until you delete the account
- Which broad kind of site a request happened on — a chat app, a forum, a video site. For anywhere outside that short list we count the domain name on its own, without your account. Never a path, a search term, or the page itself. So we can tell whether this is useful anywhere. Kept until you delete the account
- Which language you translated into. Never the language the original was written in. Kept with the usage record
- A hash naming this browser — so one free trial cannot become five. Section 4. Kept until you delete the account
- The IP address of your first request — to limit how many accounts one connection can open in a day. Kept until you delete the account
- A saved copy of a translated page: its HTML, title and source address, only when you press Share. It stays private unless you choose a public link. Deleting moves it to Trash, where it can be restored for 30 days and is then permanently deleted
- Payment details: handled by Stripe. We never receive your card number. Stripe keeps them under its own policy
All of it is stored in our database on Cloudflare and is sent over encrypted connections.
4. The name for this browser
The free allowance works without an account, because you should not have to hand over an email address to find out whether this is any good. For that to survive, the allowance has to belong to something, so once, on first use, we send a hash of:
- Your browser and its version
- Your display language
- Your timezone
- How many processor cores your machine reports
- Roughly how much memory it reports
That is the whole list. We do not use canvas rendering quirks, installed fonts or audio differences: the techniques that make a fingerprint stick are the ones built for following people around, and we are only trying to stop one free trial becoming five. The hash cannot be turned back into you, is never used for advertising or analytics, and is given to nobody.
5. Everyone your data reaches
- OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI, DeepSeek — the text or picture you sent, and only to the one whose model is selected. Used under their commercial API terms, which state that what is sent is not used to train their models
- Stripe — your email address and payment details, only if you subscribe
- Cloudflare — carries every request and hosts our database
- Google Forms — only what you type into the feedback form, if you choose to send feedback, along with the rating, the extension version and your display language
That is every party. Nothing goes to advertisers, analytics companies or data brokers. We do not sell anything. We disclose data otherwise only where the law requires it.
6. What stays on your machine
Your settings, your recent instructions and a cache of things already translated are stored inside the extension only. They are never sent to us and they are deleted when you remove the extension.
7. Analytics on this site
This website uses cookieless, anonymous counting — page views and the like. It does not track individuals and is not connected to your account or to anything the extension does.
8. Deleting your data
- Everything on your machine goes when you remove the extension
- Your account can be deleted from the extension’s options. The email address, the usage counts, the site categories, the browser hash and the IP address all go with it
- If you are subscribed, cancel first
- A saved translation moves to Trash, can be restored for 30 days, and is then permanently deleted. Delete forever removes it immediately
- Unpublishing makes a public link stop working immediately. Publishing again creates a different link
- You can also ask us to delete everything by email, at the address below
9. Children
Pelica is not intended for anyone under 13.
10. Changes
When what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date above always reflects the latest version. Material changes are also announced inside the extension.
